Postponement of Examination in Karnataka

In partial modification of the Institute’s Notification No. 13

CA(Exam)/M/2013 dated 19th December , 2012, it is notified for general information that in view of the Election to the Karnataka State Legislative Assembly,
Group–1, Paper 2, Strategic Financial
Management of Final Examination and
Group–1, Paper–2,Business Laws, Ethics and Communications of Intermediate (Integrated Professional Competence)
Examination scheduled to be held on 4th and 5th May, 2013 at Bangalore, Belgaum, Bellary,Hubli, Mangalore,Mysore and Udupi centre(s)
stand postponed and the examination in the said paper(s)
shall now be held at on 18th May and 17th May2013 respectively
at the same venue and at the same timings i.e. 2.00 PM to 5.00 PM.
Admit Cards already issued would remain valid.
However, it is clarified that the schedule of examinations notified vide Notification No.13-CA(Exam)/M/2013 dated 19th December 2012 in respect of all other cities shall remain unchanged.

ICAI Plans to Launch TV Channel

Accounting regulator Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is planning to launch a 24/7 television channel in the next couple of months to cater to the captive audience across the country.

The proposal has been submitted to the authorities (Prasar Bharti) and a final nod is expected in the next three months.

“This will be a unique move as the channel will help the students and all our branches spread across the country. Talks are being evaluated but this would be a channel which would not require any heavy investment,” said Subodh Agrawal, president ICAI. (more…)

Dear Friends,

It is the responsibility of the strong to help the weak.

Not resorting to any populist measures, the Government has not touched the direct and indirect tax structures in principle in the Union Budget 2013- 14; neither has it touched the middle class. Some of the experts have felt that they were expecting something more miraculous in the Budget that could tackle the existing economic issues at hand.

When the Union Finance Minister Shri P. Chidambaram introduced the concept of super-rich tax, i.e. people having their annual income more than Rs. 1 crore will have to pay a surcharge of 10%, his agenda apparently was quite clear, i.e. to inspire the capable people to act in the best interests of their nation. Shri Chidambaram expressed the underlying expectations behind this: There is a little bit of the spirit of Mr. Azim Premji in every affluent taxpayer. (more…)

Concession for Candidates with Permanent Physical Disability

The examination committee at its 497th meeting held that the “candidates with permanent physical / visual neurological disability of 50% or more irrespective of whether the candidates can or cannot write the examinations themselves (e.g. cases of blindness/amputation of upper limbs/cerebral palsy etc.) be given the following Concession(s):-

  • Writer to be allowed
  • Extra time of One and Half-an-Hour be permitted for Main Examination and One Hour for each session in CPT

GMCS twice for New Students

The Council at its Special Meeting held on February 2, 2011 decided that the General Management and Communication Skills Course, presently being organized for 15 days for the CA students should be organized twice during the period of articleship training as under:

(i) GMCS-I (15 days) : during 1st year of articled training
(ii) GMCS-II (15 days) : after completion of 18 months of training but before completion of articled training (more…)
